Gloss Up Performs at Summerfest in Milwaukee in Her Journey as a Rising Star in the Music Industry

Developing Her Own Style

As a child, artist Gloss Up was not allowed to listen to rap music. Instead, her time was devoted to working her way toward a cosmetology license. While she enjoyed what she was doing, saying she was good at it as well, she began to discover the rap scene on her own.

Slowly building her knowledge base, it wasn’t long before Gloss Up began recording her music and taking inspiration and tips from artists already in the industry.

While known for her friendship with GloRIlla, her hit songs “Ride home” with Jacquees and “Come Here” with Hunxho showcase her unique style, blending R&B and rap influences.

The artist says she wants to start focusing on making music that has more substance to its meaning.

“I don’t like making music with no substance in it. I want a song that people can listen to all day, every day, like my song ‘Ride Home’,” said Gloss Up. “When I listen to it I can play it all day, like keep it on repeat and just keep listening to it. It doesn’t even sound like the music ended or started over.”

Through her journey of building her career, the artist lets her authentic self shine with determination to stay true to herself and inspire other women to follow their dreams.

“Keep going and be yourself,” said Gloss Up. “Stay in your own lane, you don’t have to piggyback off of what nobody else is doing. When it’s your time it’s gonna work for you.“
