Enjoy this shortlist of free events for children and families in and around Atlanta from August 9, 2025, through August 30, 2025.

1. Inaugural Young Boss Festival

Date and time: August 9, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Location: 4255 Will Lee Road, South Fulton, GA 30349

Description: This event is designed to empower young people under age 18 who are already building and running small businesses or are interested in learning how to get started.  The festival will include $1,000 youth pitch competition, business workshops for parents, a youth vendor market, live performances, a youth fashion show, and games and food.

2. Sunday, Fundays @Funadoo!

Date and time: August 10, 2025, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Location: 4479 South Atlanta Road Southeast, Smyrna, GA

Description: A program designed for kids in grades K-5th! The program includes a bounce house, games, contests, and more.

3. End of Summer Bash: Back to School Finale

Date and time: August 16, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Location: 3201 Martin Luther King Junior Drive, Southwest, Atlanta

Description: A fundraising campaign to support various school-related initiatives while having fun doing it, which includes: free backpacks filled with school supplies, free uniforms, vendors, live music, and face painting. There will be donations and raffles from Publix, Six Flags Over Georgia, Atlanta Zoo, and more.

4. LEGO Club

Date and time: August 23, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Location: 1463 Pryor Rd SW, Atlanta

Description: Build and create with LEGO Building Blocks at the library. Supplies provided by the library. 

5. Mayor’s Summer Reading Program @ The Nest

Date and time: August 30, 2025, starting at 10 a.m.

Location: 1050 Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard, Southwest Atlanta

Description: A program for children ages birth to five years old as part of The Mayor’s Summer Reading Club (MSRC). Activities include storytelling, games, and book giveaways. This event includes a book-making activity using recycled /repurposed materials, so bring an empty cereal box if you have one. There will be extras on hand provided by the library. 

Nyesha Stone, founder of Carvd N Stone

Nyesha Stone founded Carvd N Stone in 2017 to cover positive news while attending the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Stone has a B.A. in Journalism. She has raised over $30,000 to award grants and scholarships. She has also been featured in ESSENCE and worked with the American Black Film Festival.
