Milwaukee’s Grove Serves “Cozy” Sandwiches and has Goal to Build Greenhouse for Fresh, Home-Grown Ingredients

4 Months in Business

Grove is a new Milwaukee-based food business that serves sandwiches meant to give the consumer a nostalgic feel. Owned by Wisconsin native Adrianna Henry, Grove is focused on creating nutritious meals.

Henry describes her sandwiches as “cozy” and fulfilling.

“I want to feed a boatload of families,” said Henry.

Grove legally became a business just four months ago in March but with a background in sales, Henry already had an idea of potential clients she wanted to target. One of those organizations was the Villa Terrace Decorative Art Museum. Grove was eventually hired on by the Villa Terrace to cater a fashion show, and most recently the organization’s centennial celebration.

Grove has future contracts with other clients and is looking to keep gaining more to ensure Milwaukee, and beyond, have better eating options.

“Milwaukee…I need them to be eating healthier,” she said.

Greenhouse Goals

Henry is currently living on a family ranch where she plans to start growing in the future. She is raising funds to build a greenhouse to grow the produce she needs for her sandwiches.

Grove started as a concept to bring healthier food to Milwaukee but Henry now has plans to expand into other parts of the country. She envisions having farms and greenhouses in urban areas like Downtown Milwaukee.

For Henry, she’s inspired by her Great-Grandmother. Henry’s Great-Grandmother is originally from Spain where she was loved for her cooking. She eventually became a U.S. citizen and stayed in Texas where she had 12 children. Henry saw her Great-Grandmother feed generations and she wanted to do the same.

“Cooking started with my Great-Grandma,” she said.

Henry grew up around fresh ingredients, which is why she wants to grow and produce her own food with the greenhouse.

“All I’ve [ever] wanted to do was feed people from out of my refrigerator,” said Henry.

As Henry continues to raise money for her greenhouse she is looking for volunteers, investment, and clientele.
