Black and Family-Owned Georgia Business The Grill Masters Heading to Franchise Status Creating Access into the Industry

Becoming A Franchise

As one of Atlanta’s top mouth grill makers, The Grill Masters is on its way to expanding nationally. CEO Justin Anderson said to Carvd N Stone that his Georgia-based business will be franchising in the next few months.

“We’re going to give individuals the opportunity to access the grill industry,” said Anderson.

The Grill Masters has serviced over 10,000 customers including making custom mouth grillz for Tyler Perry and Lil Baby. No matter the status, Anderson says The Grill Masters makes every client feel like a celebrity.

This family-owned business began in 2001 with Anderson’s stepfather, Vernon Jackson, at Glynn Place Mall in Brunswick, GA, where they built a reputation for custom work and “perm cut” grillz, a style that removes metal between teeth gaps to mimic the look of permanent grillz. With over 20 years of experience, The Grill Masters has a range of luxury grillz, including over 11 styles and 30 unique designs.

“Consistency, that’s the number one thing you have to focus on,” said Anderson. “…and knowing the ins and outs of your business.”

Anderson said he’s focused on legacy and sees franchising as a path to generational wealth.

Grill Quality and Seamless Systems

Anderson credits a lot of the business’s success to the quality of the grills and their attention to detail for the customer experience.

Anderson said it’s all about the science behind gold to create quality grillz; the higher the karat the higher the quality. He also mentioned avoiding grillz that contain a high percentage of alloy metal because it’s not the healthiest for the body, and it tarnishes the grill faster which causes discoloring.

He said 14-karat gold is the standard for frequently worn grillz.

Anderson said buying a gold grill is more than style, it’s an investment.

“You can have an asset that’s lucrative,” he said.

Creating a quality grill starts with a precise dental impression for the perfect fit. The Grill Masters offers appointment-only, one-on-one consultations, no walk-ins. Before getting an appointment, the goal is to get as much data from the customer to provide a seamless interaction in person. Some of the data collected includes how many teeth they want in their grill. During the visit, impressions are taken and designs are finalized. Customers are notified by email with a pickup date.

The grill-making process begins with wax molds, which are later cast in gold, and then sanded, polished, and buffed.

The Grill Masters encourages all of their customers to get a grill case to protect their investment.

“I think about everything when it comes to my grillz,” said Anderson.
