Media Girls Network and Girl Boss Suites Teamed Up to Host Annual Women Making History Weekend in Atlanta

Honoring OMG Girlz and Other Trailblazing Women

Media Girls Network and Girl Boss Suites, in collaboration with Atlanta City Councilwoman Andrea Boon, held the annual Women Making History Weekend in Atlanta from March 7-8, 2025.

Media Girls Network is a platform dedicated to supporting and amplifying women in media, entertainment, and business through curated events, workshops, and networking opportunities. Girl Boss Suites is a women’s empowerment organization that provides resources, mentorship, and business development opportunities to help women entrepreneurs thrive.

The two-day event started at Atlanta City Hall, where women leaders, entrepreneurs, and media moguls were celebrated and received plaques for their contributions. It featured keynote speeches, performances, and an awards ceremony.

“To every woman that’s in this room, whether you are just starting out or have already built your empire, know this, your story matters, your voice is powerful, and your impact is undeniable. Keep standing, keep pushing, and keep making history,” said Media Girls Network Founder Jelisa Raquel during her speech.

From celebrities to media personalities, Black women were brought together to celebrate all that women have and will do for this world.

“When God gives you the vision to move forward and the words to see, be bold and walk in it,” said Girl Boss Suites Founder Tiara Johnson in her speech. “…I want to encourage you today that when it gets hard in business, that when it gets hard in life, to keep the vision in front of you.”

Since the first day was held at City Hall, Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens stopped by to share some encouraging words.

“I wanted to make sure I came down here to say hello to you during this wonderful month where we celebrate women, women’s history, and women’s current and the future of the contributions that women are going to be making right here in Atlanta,” said Mayor Dickens in his speech.

On day two, women were invited to a private mansion on International Women’s Day to partake in wellness and self-care. The event featured gel manicures, yoga, sound bowl healing, a guided journaling session, a curated dining experience, and handcrafted cocktails from St. Julian Winery.

Hearing from the OMG Girlz

The pop group OMG Girlz featuring Zonnique Pullins, Bahja Rodriguez, and Breaunna Womack, were honored for their impact in music, entertainment, and female empowerment. Formed in 2009, the OMG Girlz created a distinct look and sound that left marks on many young women.

“Be yourself, do whatever that makes your heart smile. Keep working at your craft,” said Pullins.

Along with their contribution to the music industry, the OMG Girlz recently won a $71.5 million copyright infringement lawsuit against MGA Entertainment, the maker of the LOL Surprise! doll line. The lawsuit claimed that MGA’s OMG Dolls infringed on the intellectual property of the OMG Girlz. The OMG Girlz talked to the Carvd N Stone Team about the importance of not giving up on things you believe.

“For us, it was about protecting our ideas and our creativity. And oftentimes we’re told that as creatives we don’t really have a leg to stand on…this is just a really big win for creatives…and hopefully more creatives come forward and they wanna fight for their ideas because they should,” said Rodriguez.

They also provided advice to women who are chasing their dreams.

“Keep your faith strong. Whatever you see, your dreams, it’s true, it’s real. It’s real to you, it can be real to the world, they just haven’t seen it yet,” said Womack.
